Privacy Policy
Last updated:
This Privacy Policy explains how typingtest.indgovtjobs.net ("we", "our", "the site") handles information when you visit and use our free typing test practice tools. The site is operated by the IndGovtJobs Network.
1. Information We Collect
Browsing the site and taking typing tests does not require an account, and we collect no personal information for anonymous use.
If you choose to create a free account, we collect the details you provide — your name, email address, mobile number, state, and qualification. We use these to create and secure your account, save your typing progress, and send you relevant government job notifications by email and WhatsApp (with the consent you give at sign-up). Your password is stored only as a securely salted hash, never in plain text.
If you sign up or log in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and a Google account identifier from Google to create or access your account — we never receive your Google password. You are then asked to provide your mobile number, state, and qualification, and to give consent, before your account is activated. Your use of Google Sign-In is also subject to Google's Privacy Policy.
Consent & communications: creating an account means you agree to receive government job alerts and essential service emails. Promotional emails (such as performance summaries and practice reminders) are sent using Amazon SES and carry a one-click unsubscribe link in every message. Unsubscribing stops all promotional email immediately, while you still receive essential account emails (such as verification and password resets). You can also ask us to delete your account at any time by emailing us (see Contact below).
Your rights: you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time. We keep account data only while your account is active or as needed to provide the service.
2. Typing Scores and Local Storage
Your typing test results — WPM, accuracy, and session history — are stored exclusively in your own browser using localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is never sent to any server. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
We also use sessionStorage to remember whether you have dismissed notification banners during your current browser session. This data is automatically deleted when you close the tab.
If you are signed in, your test results (WPM, accuracy, and an error summary) are also saved to your account so you can track progress across devices. This is stored securely on Cloudflare D1 and linked only to your account. A secure, HTTP-only session cookie keeps you logged in.
3. Cookies
For anonymous visitors practising typing tests, we set no first-party cookies. When you log in, we set essential first-party cookies to keep you signed in: a secure
HTTP-only session cookie (tt_session) and a companion flag (tt_auth) used only to
display the correct signed-in menu without an extra network request. Our sign-up and login pages also use
Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-friendly bot check, which may set its own cookie. These are
strictly functional — we use no first-party analytics or advertising cookies of our own.
Third-party services embedded on this site — including Google AdSense — may place cookies on your device to serve relevant advertisements. These cookies are governed entirely by Google's own privacy policy and are outside our control.
You can opt out of personalised advertising via Google's Ad Settings or by visiting aboutads.info.
4. Advertising & Affiliate Links
We use Google AdSense to display advertisements that help fund free access to this site. AdSense uses cookies and web beacons to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your interests. For more information on how Google uses data when you visit our site, see policies.google.com/privacy.
Amazon Associates: some pages include affiliate links to products on Amazon. As an Amazon Associate, we earn from qualifying purchases made through these links, at no extra cost to you. Amazon may set cookies to attribute a purchase; these are governed by Amazon's Privacy Notice.
5. Cloudflare
This site is hosted and served through Cloudflare Pages and Cloudflare's global CDN. Cloudflare may log standard server data — including IP addresses, browser type, and request timestamps — for security, DDoS protection, and performance purposes. This is handled by Cloudflare in accordance with their Privacy Policy.
6. Log Data
Like all websites, our infrastructure automatically records standard web server log data when you visit — including your IP address, browser type, referring URL, pages visited, and request timestamp. This data is used solely for security monitoring and aggregate traffic analysis. It is not linked to any personally identifiable information and is not sold or shared with third parties.
7. External Links
Our site contains links to government exam portals and other websites within the IndGovtJobs Network. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those external sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before submitting any personal information.
8. Children's Privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone under 13 years of age. If you believe a child has submitted personal data to us, please contact us so we can remove it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
10. Contact
